A key feature of the professional business studies is modularity. The study program consists of two components: a study core and modules which expand professional competencies.
The study core provides the technical basis for understanding the role of operations manager and enables students to efficiently perform the activities at this position in an entrepreneurial and competitive environment. It is realized through mandatory technical and general education courses during the course of studies.
Modularity is a program solution for expanding the working zone of our graduates so they are able to work in other middle level management positions which are complementary with operations management. In their second year of studies, students choose either their elective technical courses aimed at increasing their competencies in the field of operations management, or their elective program modules (a group of related courses) which extend their work zone.
The elective technical courses enable students to develop their competencies for expanding their work zone in the small and medium commercial companies, or to further develop their competencies for specific management tasks in larger companies or other instututions.
The purpose of the elective general education courses is to enable students to expand their general and business knowledge, which is exceptionally useful for effective business behavior in the contemporary business environment, as well as for their further management development.
Students can also take up to two additional electives, which are covered by the regular tuition. These electives can be from any content area: a course from the elective program modules for candidates who have chosen elective technical courses; a course from the elective technical courses for candidates who have chosen elective program modules; or additional elective general education courses.
Upon the successful completion of the three-year study program students are issued a diploma for a completed professional higher education with the title "Bachelor of Arts in Operations Management."
The diploma supplement lists the group of technical electives or the elective program module completed by the student.
Students at BAS can take individual courses and modules, for which they are issued a certificate indicating the number of credits earned.
